Learning how to breathe properly can help to relieve your stress about speaking. Taking some deep breaths and then exhaling all the way before giving a speech can reduce nerves. Breathe in for a count of four, and then breathe out for a count of five. Do this approximately five times to feel a positive difference in how calm you feel.

Avoid fidgeting when speaking in front of an audience. Playing with your hair, chewing on your nails and other similar behaviors serve to distract the audience from listening to what you have to say. Instead of remembering your message, they may remember that you continually smoothed your hair. If you find it difficult to stop fidgeting, clasp your hands together in front of you or behind you, or place them on the lectern.

Give a great ending to your speech. Your whole speech is important, of course, but the conclusion is likely what is most remembered. If you end in a boring manner, people will not remember your speech for very long.

Before you get ready for your speech, make sure you know the material. This is easy when you are actually interested in the topic you have chosen. Try learning more about the topic than what you actually say in your speech. This will help you add some useful additional information. it can also help you better answer questions.

As you talk, make sure to project your voice. Try to have water available during your speech. Don’t drink any dairy drinks or soda when giving your speech. These fluids could thicken your saliva when delivering the speech. A caffeine free tea will ease your tension and relax your voice.

If you have to give a speech in front of an audience, practice in front of a mirror. Certain hand gestures and expressions can emphasize on a point that you are trying to make. Watching yourself in a mirror can also help you see things about your appearance that you can improve.

Focus your energy on your information and audience when doing public speaking. You don’t want to focus on your anxiety and stress when speaking. The point of your speech is to provide information that is important to you and to make sure you deliver it in a way that keeps the audience engaged.

Winging it should not even cross your mind when it comes to public speaking. Even if you are well-versed in the topic, you do not want to go in unprepared. Your speech may come off as casually acceptable. However, after finishing, you’ll still remember some aspects that you forgot to mention.

You can take notes, make changes to try for the next time you practice. Having a video of yourself in action can help you assess how at ease you are and how confident you seem.

Look up great speeches on the internet to view. Take the time to watch them and observe what it is that they do that makes their speech so amazing. They may have had professional coaches or speech writers but you can find people to help ou write yours and coach you too.

Try to learn something about your audience before you give your speech. Your goal is to connect with your audience when you speak. If you know a little bit about them, it makes the connection a little easier.
